We will be taking our 3 children (18,15 and 8 yrs old) to DisneyWorld in Floriday this summer . Does any one have a good travel agent on the north side who planned a similar trip? Money is tight of course so I'm looking at a reasonable 5 day trip. Is planning over the internet vs. a travel agent a good idea? Thank you!!

We've always planned our trips ourselves...I'm one of those who likes to see ALL of the options. We book our own hotel, purchase tickets onsite, etc. There are so many websites devoted to DW and DL...

The internet! Do people still go to travel agents? There's so much you can do on the internet now, and you can find some great deals. Good luck!

Go to the Disney website, no need to bother with a travel agent.

If you stay in a Disney resort, they will give you a HUGE price break on the admission passes to the parks, the prices are out of this world for people who live outside Florida.

They will even send someone to pick you up at the airport and bring you to the resort. Once you are there, unless there are things you want to see elsewhere, there is no need to even leave the Disney area, they have just about everything you could posibly need. No rental car would save you alot of money.

Book as far in advance as you can so you can get a good deal on the hotel room.

If you want to, you can also check out all the sit down dinner choices within the parks. Make sure you book your seats in advance as well at 407-WDW-DINE. They book 3 months in advance if memory serves.

Keep in mind that a good travel agent can provide other services than just booking your travel - they know of deals that only industry insiders get, perks for using different combinations of airfare/hotel/etc. - they can call you if there's ever a problem with your trip, or booking needs to be changed in emergency, etc.

We used to run a travel website (using Travelocity's search engines, etc etc) and it was nice, but there is a lot missing. Definitely try going with an agent before you write them off! And if you don't like it, you can still book online yourself.

Check out the MouseSavers.com - Disney Discount Source - Disney World Discounts, Disneyland Discounts, Disney Cruise Discounts and The DIS Discussion Forums - DISboards.com - Powered by vBulletin, they are great tools for planning your vacation. I go at twice a year, one trip to California and one trip to Florida. Have fun!

DISboards.com is THE best Disney info resource. We went to Disney World last June. We booked it through Disney. But we booked our airfare through Expedia. Disneys airfare is to high.

Look into all of those links from the previous poster - disboards.com, etc., tourguidemike.com, etc. I went thru AAA on hwy 281, we went last January. The agent that helped us, Anna, seemed knowledgeable, and helpful. If you are members, then it is worth it to at least go in and see what the travel agent there has to say, you know, sit down and talk to a real person. Then check around online. Disney does throw out deals sometimes, but usually for the low season. HTH!
