I an seeing a bunch of them. They are kinda rare. I guess the weather is right for them. When I was a kid I lived on Cliffwood near West Ave and Basse Rd. They were everywhere. Now I am living south of town on some property and I see them occasionally--like now. We called them Lightning Bugs. Have you had the pleasure of experiencing this?

Landa Park in New Braunfels is loaded with them. We were so excited to see them because it has been years since I caught them in a jar and probably contributed to their decline. Oh well, we all did it and we didn't think twice. They're so cute and fun to watch.

There are tons in my back yard tonight, and I've seen them the last few nights too.

Usually we see bunches of them at the neighborhood park, under the trees along the creek. My kids pretend that they're fairies.

I used to see them every night as a kid but I think residential development is wiping them out.

On rare occasions still see some fireflies, but not as regularly as when I was a kid.

Another thing I don’t see much are the Monarch butterflies or the horned toad lizards.
At least not around my neighborhood.

I grew up on the south end of town and never saw a possum.
I live on the opposite side now and see them all the time.

Last two or three nights they've been out. Don't know why they're so rare these days.

Went outside last night to look, but sadly didn't see any.

Didn't really see them growing up (Massachusetts) but saw tons visiting my grandmother's place (Georgia). My own kids have never really seen them here.

I have some in Kerrville, maybe they came for the Fall Folkfest, as they are not around very often.

When collecting them... Be careful what size you punch the holes in the jar lid.

From May until July, there were tons of them. Every evening they were swarming all over...it was magical! Money can't buy that, you know? But it's been quite a while...everything dried up and they started disappearing!
