In the 1976 Polks there are 21 stores listed,
but they were apparently bought out by ShopRite.
(Will, I'll post a scan of this and HEB after dinner)

Some quick research, I found out that the Butt family
operated more than a few Piggly Wiggly franchises in the 1920s.

I'm sure all of you remember this joke -
my GrandMa told this one back in the 1950s -
HandyAndy, HEB, and PigglyWiggly were gonna join forces
and call the operation Andy's Wiggly Butt.

in the seventies a lot of Piggly Wiggly's became Save U's. Alot of Heb's became Thrift Tex. I think there was a lot of food stores moving in and trying to take over. I remember FOOOOOOD City!!! On late night TV...

Does anyone remember the details?

Primo, the way I remember it.

Bernie was parked and making out with an intern
somewhere along River Road.

A mugger approached the rockin autoMobile and confronted them.

Bernie ran away, splashing barefoot across the knee deep San Antonio River,
leaving the young lady to fend for herself.
