Have any of you been to a HFHR? I don't know if the items are new or used. What can you tell me? I understand there are two stores- Probandt and Walzham.

My father-in-law gets a lot of stuff there. They recently bought a beautiful table and chairs there, and I can't remember what they paid, but I do remember thinking they got a good deal. It was brand new.

I've been to the store on Probandt, we got our bathroom tile there.

They have a mix - lots of new stuff (eg tile) and lots of old stuff - tons and tons and tons of windows. I think they salvage whatever they can from the houses they tear down or re-do. Of course, the windows only help if you have a similarly old house....unfortunately for us none were the right size. They have plenty of other things there too though. My only problem is it always seems to be Sunday afternoon when I want to go, and they're closed.

Anyway, it's not Home Depot (which I don't like anyway), but you can find some great things there at good prices, both new and used.

They also just opened a new one at Marbach Rd and Loop 410. Not as much stuff as the one on Probandt or Walzem.

I have been to all three and you can always find some pretty good deals. At the Probandt store, my wife and I bought two carpets for a lot cheaper than we saw for the same brand at some of the home stores.

My report is here.

Marbach and 410 would be the closest to you.
