Hi everyone

We may be relocating to SA mid year, while I have yet to do *real* searching I would like some help.

Could you please give me a breakdown of life, schools, demographics and home prices in the areas of Schertz, Hollywood Park, Timberwood park and other recs that are considered good neighborhoods for a young family?

My husband and I are in our late 20's and have a 1 year old Daughter and would like a safe neighborhood, access to parks and recreations, great schools and friendly people. We are looking to spend around low 200's maybe up to 240. A 4 bed 2 bath would be great or a 3/2 would also work. Do houses have basements in SA? It would be great to find one with a finished one. A large/medium sized back yard is necessary since we have a 70# Boxer who needs excercise! Are we asking for too much for our price range?

I hear that cost of living is relatively low in SA, of course I am from South FLA so my perseption may be a bit biased since everything here is completely over priced.

Also, what areas are good to rent in for about 6 months to a year while we get situated and get a feel for SA before purchasing? For this I don't care about schools as much as safety and parks/activities

Thank you so very much!

There is a very good post titled "neighborhood tour 08" and there are some recs there.
Oak Hollow is great. I grew up there. Lots of trees, good schools, and FAB location.
Zip is 78232- in fact, anything in that zip is a great location IMO and minutes (seriously) from the airport but w/out the noise.
