I lived in Spain for a few years growing up, if that counts. Madrid and El Escorial, mainly. Now I go back to visit family every couple years or so... they're all scattered around Madrid, Sevilla and Almunecar (a tiny tourist town on the coast in between Malaga and Marbella). Not bad for family reunions

Lived in Bonlanden Germany outside Stuttgart for a year or so (went to German Kindergarten)

Bonlanden Germany - Google Maps

Then moved on base.. the base has been turned over to the german government since then and I think was used as low income housing..

You can still see the barracks. i guess I lived off Pottawaweg.. and didn't even know it. The fields to the left of that street were used for helicopters.. yes helicopters.. everyday! Whoop whoop whoop whoop..

Nelligen Barracks - Google Maps

was there from 1978-1981 I think..

I was born in Stuttgart and went back for several years (military brat) when my Dad was stationed in Worms, Germany.

Living overseas provided me some great experiences. Got to go into East Berlin before the wall came down, which was an extremely weird experience. Also learned to ski in Switzerland and Austria

Can SOOO understand your statement...we loved living overseas and would do it again in a heartbeat!

For now, have to settle to vacation travel, but nothing compares to living in a different place.

OK folks, this is gonna blow some of you away; but SilverCreek78250 and I just realized we worked together in Bosnia ten years ago! Not just in the same place at the same time...we were on the same team working the same mission!

You never know who you'll run into on this forum!

I can believe it, especially with a small place like that. There is a guy over at AFISRA that I see all the time who I swear looks like a person I saw in a picture while I was in Sarajevo. If I remember right, they're standing in front of the NIC. We'll see if that rings any bells
