So, seems we have LOTS of threads that address almost everything except JUST the food scene in SA.....so, lets start one and give each other outstanding recommendations for places we have found that are "stand out/should give it a shot" status.

I nominate a place that are both mom and pop AND amazing places to eat. OK, they have both/had "food truck" status, but if you are adventurous with food, you could enjoy.

FAT TUMMY which is an Argentinean place that has all kinds of both savory and a couple dessert empanadas. On medical drive, stuck in an convenience store and SOOOOOO worth it! STUFFED full of quality ingredients and my hubby (who is a BIG eater) had one empanada and the salad from his combo (they have a special, 2 empanadas and a salad) and came away STUFFED! We ordered different types, both thrilled, and bought several "uncooked" different types to take home and freeze and have for later without the trip up there for 2 of them. HIGHLY recommend! I would go back there just to order the Chimmichuri sauce that they make fresh from scratch and would go good on everything from Beef to a Flip-Flop! When you are done eating, if you enjoy Indian and Mid-Eastern food, be sure to go right around the back of the same strip mall to check out the amazing selection of Indian/Middle Eastern Food and spices at "Mussafa's Halal Market". OMG, if you are into spices and this type of food, you will be AMAZED at the offerings!

OK...Your turn....GO!!!!!!!!!! Help us "foodies" know places that might be those little hidden gems that we should consider and tell us why you felt it was outstanding! Lets share our experiences/knowledge and help others find our special little places!

Kosta's Greek Food on Nacogdoches near 1000 Oaks. She makes the most simple, delicious Greek salad and she doesn't skimp on the feta. Everything we've had there is fresh and delicious but I am partial to the gyros. Pitas are fresh and the meat and tzatziki are very good. It's a little hole in the wall and they really deserve more business.

Buon Giorno Cafe at Judson and Nacogdoches. It's a cute little cafe in a strip mall behind Jack in the Box. Really fresh and delicious authentic Italian pastries. They have all sorts of coffee and coffee drinks, sandwiches, pastries, cookies....everything is fresh and delicious.

Not that I know of but the owner may know where to get some. She's Italian and is always very nice. Some people may think she's a little abrupt but it doesn't bother me. Her cannoli washes away any sins.
