Found this in the weekly newsletter:

Quote:
Northside staff, students, and their families can get 80 percent off Microsoft Office and Windows Vista software by ordering online at Welcome to the CDW-G Academic Software Store since NISD is part of the Texas Cooperative Purchasing Network.

I checked the site - they limit it to Office and Vista - the Vista Ultimate Upgrade is only $98!!! It retails for $249.99 on Newegg.

Newegg link

I'm gonna have to sugar up the wife so I can go buy that...

Sweet. Thanks for posting.
NISD employees also get 15% off sprint wireless. At least it pays for the taxes and fees

You should see the discounts that UTSA students and employees enjoy on Microsoft products. $29 for Vista Ultimate, among others.

The taxpayers are not funding these costs. It is discounts that companies give to employees because of "buying power". It has nothing to do with the taxpayers.

Through my workplace, I received MS Office Enterprise 2007 for $21 (shipping and handling only).
Includes:
Word 2007
Excel 2007
PowerPoint 2007
Outlook 2007
Publisher 2007
Access 2007
OneNote 2007
InfoPath 2007
Groove 2007

Of course once we stop working at this place we're supposed to stop using the software...right!

Maybe CD can arrange something with MS and/or other software developers?

Only if you have an older computer with little memory. I remember pre-DOS, DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, and now Windows Vista. So, I do know a "little" about computers. Every new operating system had problems it's first year and Vista is no different. It has improved since it's introduction. Now, is it more expensive and "bracketed" to sell more costly versions than previous MS OS's? Yes and that is another story.

Same here. I didn't take advantage of it tho. I think it would be awesome if CD could do that, I wonder how one would go about starting a program like that...CD definitely has an available market!

I tried Vista basic when it arrived on my Dell laptop, but wiped it in favor of XPSP2 at the time. I didn't have the time to learn a new OS! Now I have no excuse to not load up Ultimate and take advantage of all it can do! I'm actually looking forward to it....
