Thank you, someone with a brain. I was on E and couldn't get to a gas station because they were either sold out or lines were too long. People, there IS NO gas shortage!! Prices are going up due to demand, so stop buying gas that you don't need and let people who actually do need it have a chance to fill up before you buy it all out. Jeez.

The gasoline supplies are being diverted to Houston to help with the recovery. The panic buying in the rest of Texas is making prices go higher than it should have been and jeopardizes the recovery effort. Higher prices at the pump means less dollars in our pockets, which now need to be stretched further for home and car repairs!

Please conserve gas! There are contractors zipping around and across town that need gas to assist with the recovery effort. Visiting various malls around town can wait until supplies have been stabilized.

I think the higher prices are more related to the reduced production than the panic buying. The prices were going to go up regardless of whether or not there was a panic. When I filled up yesterday morning, prices were already significantly increased.

I tried to get gas this morning between 6:00 and 6:30 am as I drove from 78212 along Hildebrand and all the way up Fredericksburg to the NW side. All of the stations were completely empty and had barricades in front of the pumps, probably for hours. The Gasbuddy app had listed some of these stations as "having fuel," with reports stating that people had made the affirmative posts "moments ago" or within an hour, so that app is as useless as is the local news telling us Friday night that only half of SA stations are without fuel. Methinks the mayor and media can start telling the truth now that hoarding is impossible, but alas, I'm sure I was just looking in the wrong quartile of town.

The parking lot at my apartment complex is completely full with residents staying in this weekend. Every Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving, the place empties out as people leave town. Not this time...

Yeah - seeing posts from all over with pics of folks filling ANYTHING that they even THINK will hold gas. Stupid part is, the gas we have nowadays goes bad VERY quickly - so they're creating MORE problems for themselves. The issue is the transport. THAT is where the bottleneck is. Right now, the local terminals are running on an allotment system - so once the allotment is used, they have to run the trucks down to the coast terminals, adding 5 hours to each run. My son drives for one of the fuel companies, and he says it's a HUGE pain right now, but they CAN get all the fuel they want.

People say to conserve gas but I have to commute 20 miles to and 20 miles back from work Mon-Fri plus I drive a small pick up truck that hasn't been doing good on gas recently. That's easier said than done. Why aren't they giving us any time frame on when these barrels of gas or whatever is gonna arrive here? Also, I can't stand people who are speeding through the highway while WE'RE ON A SHORTAGE OF GAS. I'm coasting as much as possible to make my gas last.

Obviously, you're not the problem. Rather, it's the people who fill two giant trash barrels full of gas who aren't helping at all.

I was talking to someone at my local Walmart which by the way is now going on 24hrs without gas. She told me they got 8000 gallons Weds which normally get them through close to a week. By Thursday they were out. Friday at 6am they got another 1700 gallons. By noon Friday they were out of that. Over10K gallons of gas (considering they had some on hand when they got the 8K) sold in roughly 48hrs.

People are stupid.

Meanwhile my car is screaming toward "E".

The panic on Thursday didn't help us out at all. I was suppose to drive up to Dallas on Friday for a business trip but I don't think that will happen now because of this shortage of gas. Who knows how long it will take now for things to get back to normal.

FYI stop relying on Gasbuddy. Now I think people now are updating it with bogus info. I have seen 4 updates today indicating station in my area (for example the WalMart in my previous post) have gas and none of them have had it and wont have it today.
