Hi all,

If you work at USAA or nearby, what is your commute time?

Please indicate what area you are from, time you leave and how long it takes you to get to USAA or nearby business.

I'm trying to gauge what areas to move to based on traffic.

I have searched similar threads but those were a couple of years old and commute times may have changed. Thanks in advance.

You can use Google maps to get the addresses for both, and also to look at traffic for the different areas. Google maps will show traffic info, so look during rush hour. Traffic getting to USAA is going to be more problematic than traffic to the location you asked about in your other post. It might make more sense to live near USAA so that person has a shorter distance to spend in traffic. There are lots of apartments around USAA area if that's what you're looking for.

My husband works near USAA, we live at 1604 and 90 on the far west side, and in the mornings at 5:30 with no traffic it takes about 40 minutes for him to get to work. Coming home at 5 pm takes him about an hour unless traffic backs up more than usual.

USAA employee here...I live in Alamo Ranch (1604/151). My commute in the morning takes 30 minutes, leaving the house at 6:30am. The drive home is 35 minutes, leaving the campus at 3:30pm.

Out of curiosity, what will you be doing for USAA?

I appreciate the information Bradford72. That doesn't seem too bad of a commute. I'll Direct Message you on your last question.

USAA Employee

I live in Canyon Springs which is just past Stone Oak. The mileage from my house to USAA is 19 miles. In the morning if I leave by 6:30 it takes about 30 minutes. If I leave at 7 am which then I am driving from the Life Time Fitness gym at 1604/281 the traffic is heavier and it takes about 30 minutes also but the mileage is a bit less at that point.

Drive home I try to leave by 4 pm and that can be about 45 minutes at the most. Leave around 4:30 or late and it can jump to an hour commute.

I will take that commute since I love the area I live. Once I am home I don't have to leave the area. Shopping and restaurants are all here in the area.

Wow... good, but sad info...

I will be more thankful... for my 16 mile commute < 20 minutes (no stoplights / no traffic)

Rain / Mtns / snow are easier for me to deal with than traffic and stoplights.

Just to add some perspective, my commute in California (East Bay) was 19 miles and took 1.5 hours each way. San Antonio traffic is a welcome change.
