But BCAD doesn't actually collect taxes, they assess property, and the taxes are collected by the county or the individual taxing entities.

The Bexar County Tax Assessor Collector (again, separate from the Bexar County Appraisal District) claims to now be collecting taxes for all taxing authorities in Bexar County (welcome Judson ISD for the first time this year), but does not list Medina Valley ISD among the authorities they collect for. Maybe because the physical location of Medina Valley ISD is not inside Bexar County? IDK.

Coincidentally, I just got an email yesterday from our mortgage company saying they'd paid our insurance premium and our school tax, as they call it. I imagine our house payment will go up another $50 or so now, since after all, we're the sucker piggy banks the taxing entities can't seem to stay away from.

I too have property in unincorporated San Antonio, I am looking at my last tax statement.

It comes from Albert Uresti, Bexar County Tax Collector. You should get one that outlines what you are paying for regardless of whether you have a mortgage/escrow account or if you own your property out right.

Mine collects for the following:

Flood Fund
Alamo Comm College
Hospital District (pretty sure the is the University Health System)
Bexar County
SA River Authority
Somerset ISD (the local school district within Bexar County)
Emergency Service Dist #6
Fed STMWTR Fee.

Look at your last tax statement, does it charge you for a School District. I would also speak with your neighbors to see what they say.
