I just bought a house on the westside about 5mins from Alamo Ranch area and I accepted a job offer with awesome pay and benefits on 1604/281 area. I had to, it was the job I've always wanted to do at the company I had been for 4 years but with no career progression let a lone any bonus or raise.

My daughters school is in the NISD district and I also have a 3 year old in daycare on prue (because my current work is 10mins from it).

I normally drop off my daughter at 7 when the school doors open, then drive down prue and babcock and drop off my lil to daycare with traffic I get there around 730ish.

I know I'll have to make some changes or sacrifices. If I pull my lil out of daycare I would want to put her in a daycare close to where my new work will be.

My work hours will be 8 to 5. I already know the traffic on 1604 west side gets really backed up in the early mornings and evenings.

What are your suggestions on how to make it to work on time?

1604 & Braun to I-10 can take an easy 30 minutes in the morning if you're just getting on it around 7 AM.
This being when college and school is in session. During spring break, winter break, etc. it lightens up a bit.

I've never been in rush hour past I-10 heading north, but I know it always backs up at 1604 & Blanco.
And if there's an accident, good luck.

That all being said, congrats on the new job and it'll all work out. It has to, right?

if i drop her off right at 7 by the time i hit 1604/shaenfield will be 715? not sure since school is still out.

plus i'm still deciding if i should leave my lil in daycare on prue that she has been going to since she was 2. I'd hate to pull her out and into a new one for her to start over with new faces

7:15 at Shaenfield/1604 is grid lock.
open up your GPS tomorrow at that time and you'll see dark red (meaning very slow traffic) starting right before Bandera all the way to 1604.

Actually I misquoted tomorrow's suggestion of using GPS. School's out and it's holiday break, so traffic is a breeze right now!

Be prepared for hell on earth, it takes me 40 minutes to go from Shaenfield to I10 and UTSA blvd. using waze. If I were you I would find a daycare near work and leave your house at 6:30.

Maybe you should have researched that commute before accepting that job?

Sell the house, move the kids from their school and daycare ( they'll be just fine) and move closer to the job. It's totally worth the hassle of moving to have that commute time back to spend with your kids. 1604 in your commute zone is only driver friendly when school is not in session.

Congratulations!
