On the bright side, the guy has said enough to the press/public that even if he did hire a hotshot lawyer, there's no way they can invent a defense to negate what he has said. If he had been quiet about the whole thing they could have made up a number of stories to release him from his responsibility.

hearsay, unless the police report is quoted verbatim. and a good shark attorney will get most of that thrown out. the newspaper report will be used against the good doctor, and the driver of the van will be the victim before its all over.

At least equal time with Dr Sanchez's widow, or his ER team the next time he needs help.

I honestly don't think cell phones or even hands-free phones while driving are the basic problem. I think its distracted drivers - no matter what they are distracted by. I can remember several times being VERY deep in conversation with passengers in my car and not being able to remember driving the last so many miles. Scary! Also, outlawing cell phones while driving will only affect us law-abiding citizens. People are going to use them while driving anyway and crash into us!

And, at least this time when they speak so highly of a person, it's actually true! Not a wonderful caring person with a bright future that is also a gang banger knucklehead. This guy was doing great things.

Most definitely! Instead of the usual he was such a good boy, we lost an actual hero that everyone could look up to. Hopefully people learn a lesson, though, and this was not all for nothing

The Philip Smith that hit him aint no spring chicken, guy is 59, as of Xmas day, was giving Dr. Sanchez CPR. I aint defending his driving, very bad, like I stated before, some are already saying the good Dr shouldnt have been running on a busy street with the traffic. (asking for it) The Explorer is in the police impound, Mr. Smith submitted to a blood test, so the true factors of the evidence will be there. Either way, Philip Smith of Brae Park Drive in Helotes was driving the vehicle Moderator cut: see comment

Last edited by Bo; 01-19-2009 at 12:56 PM.. Reason: Mr. Smith will likely get a trial in the justice system. Let's let that one happen before passing a verdict here.
