^ The person you quoted was saying most places inside 410 vote for democrats. (Not because they are liberal areas but they are poor minority majority areas) Being gay in a very republican area on the more conservative north central side of town is way more the comfortable than in the very blue southwest side.

FYI I’m from La Vernia on the very far east side and never had an issue either.

Most people do not want to admit that tolerance is because of experience of diversity and not education. Macho culture does not help nor do over educated people who think they are culture police. (These idiots are the most aggressive people)

Life in a thriving city is not for the faint of heart. You fight more about loud music, rude people, and traffic more than if your neighbors having a Cruz or Beto sign.

I was attempting to categorize all of 410 artsy, obviously not every single neighborhood is.
Personally I don't like living near crime or Beto signs

SA is not a good place to live. Low wages, growing cost of housing and food. I think it will get better but not for another 10 years. Stigma that its cheaper...yea if you live in the hood. But housing is like a 3rd world.

If your Hispanic I would live there. Less racism for you however if you want to make some money, hit Dallas, Austin or Houston. Austin a bit expensive if you are not upper middle class. Dallas number one on IT jobs right now.

Suburban areas with lower percentages of college educated residents and blue-collar rural areas tend to be Republican constituencies now. I'd be curious to see how much bluer SA proper would be if it hadn't annexed almost 2/3rds of the metro population (which is the only reason SA is ranked 2nd in population in the state).

These are some of the most accurate, and insightful observations about local politics I have seen in some time.

On one side, there are religious or personal biases rooted in outdated thinking, on the other, you have career students that are assured they are the only people fit to let others know what is acceptable, and what isn't. As stated, they are clearly the more aggressive of the two groups.

Politics are personal. There is no great divide as the media would have people believe. The reason it appears so is that it is only the hyper-partisan elements of each party that are getting the press. Most people, including San Antonio area residents, are moderates. They may lean a bit right, or a bit left, but many have views on both sides of center.

San Antonio is only 60% of the metro (which is still high) and depending on the year the growth is 50/50 city and metro. You thank the capital for San Antonio's annexation policies. County's in Texas do not have enough land use power.

BTW the most conservative areas of San Antonio have the highest education attainment. Also, the national average of Hispanic bachelor attainment is on 15% and we are a majority minority city.

Alamo Heights - conservative - 73.6% with a bachelors degree
Terrill Heights - conservative - 78.0% with a bachelors degree
Comal County - conservative - 34.5% with a bachelors degree
Kendall County - conservative - 39.3% with a bachelors degree

I don't like it when people assume that you should like San Antonio just because you're Hispanic.
