Which is why I miss Jim Dawson and his days at KSAT - that man KNEW his weather, and wasn't afraid to go against what the NWS forecasts were calling for.

I suspect they’re getting their information from the National Weather Bureau and dressing it up. Granted, a weather scientist on board could help with that.

TR’s comment about the fella who would contradict the NWB if he thought it wrong is interesting and gives pause.

One meaning of engineer is a person who operates and maintains engines; that’s how train drivers came to be called engineers back in the days of steam engine locomotives.

Before Jim Dawson was on KSAT, he was on WOAI. When I think of a San Antonio weatherman, I still think of Jim Dawson first. Not only was he a great weatherman, I enjoyed his cartoons he drew at the end of his weathercasts. They got me to watch the weather as a kid and amused me after I grew up. He always said "Here's a couple of characters for you".

The new anchor team on 4 is going to take some take to grow on us. Now, we already know David Chancellor, but he's making the adjustment from sports. Still, they'll have a ways to go to beat the folks at 5 (Barry Davis, Sarah Forgany) and 12 (Mark Austin).

I've liked 4 for 5 years now but set the cable recorder to the newscasts on 12 this week. So far 12 is ok but tuned for short attention span folks. 50 stories per newscast, but unlike on 4, most are news rather than pre-recorded features (time fillers).

The new zippy video effects on 5 make it unwatchable.

Every time someone mentions news people, I assume we're going to talk about what they look like and how sexually enticing they are because for old farts the news is the new porn.

After 15 years - I am so disappointed with WOAI that I have decided to NOT watch them anymore. All of the familiar faces that I’ve watched over the years in the morning are gone - replaced with younger anchors. Are you trying to run off the more mature audiences. I liked Michael & Leslie together. I never cared for Claudia. I don’t care for David Chancellor - he should stay covering sports. The new gal, among with the new traffic person (Zora??) are decent, but I won’t know how it all turns out since I’m turning off WOAI. Hope you get your act together!!!
