Wei Kee was actually a former Carl's Jr. location that BK bought out when they first came to town. It's hard to believe that before the mid-80's there were no Burger Kings here.

Blanco and 410, across Blanco from Central Park Mall. It was attached to an Exxon. I worked at the Exxon. There's a bank there now.

We always had plumbing problems there. It was lower than street level, so there was a sump pump, and when it would stop working, sewage would back up into BK's kitchen.

Besides the one that closed, there are still 2 on Fort Sam.

Isn't that because Whopper Burger had the rights to the Whopper name here in San Antonio so Burger King couldn't sell or advertise anything called Whopper?

I believe that is correct. So Burger King couldn't use that name here, and consequently didn't enter the local market until Whooper Burger locations had closed down.

There was a BK on Babcock, and one inside Wonderland Mall, and I believe the Taurino's on the intersection of Callaghan and Culebra was also a BK. I remember going to the Babcock one back when they had the Pokemon and Rugrats toys lol
I remember when I lived in San Antonio's Marbach area (Marbach Park Apts), there used to be a BK right on the corner of Marbach & Horal. This used to be a burger joint before...Carl's Jr?...in the early 80's.
Also, there was one in Lackland AFB.
Was not aware they had closed some BK's. Have not returned to SA since 2006.

Carry on.

Kind of late to this thread. Back in 1986, BK bought out Carls Jr and converted their restuarants. town was split into corporate store and a franchisee.
Rittiman and i35 (not a Carl's Jr)
Walzem and i35 across from the mall (Rackspace). where the starbucks is now
West Ave and Blanco across west ave from HEB
1000 oaks and Nacogdoches - this one burned down
Pat Booker Rd
Goliad Rd at military - originally where the walgreens is now

I am not sure about all the corporation locations. I actually worked at all of the above for at least 1 day - manager

Huebner and Babcock (new build at that time)
West commerce st
Marbach and Horal
I-10/Huebner/Fredericksburg Rd
Ingram Rd
SW Military - across street from Chuck cheese and Kmart

About the BK on DeZavala near Clark, I would drive by there quite a bit. There were still cows in the area. Sometimes they would escape and walk down DeZavala by the BK. If they only knew!
