SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Former Obama housing chief Julian Castro says he's taking a step toward a possible White House campaign in 2020 by forming a presidential exploratory committee. The Texas Democrat tells The Associated Press that he will announce a decision Jan. 12.

I guess he hasn't got the message yet that Beto is the Hispanic candidate ahead of him in line to lose in 2020.

At least he is Hispanic. Ol' Bob "Beto" O'Rourke doesn't have one drop of Hispanic blood in his veins.

But his Spanish fluency is much better than some "Hispanics" out there. I am willing to bet just as good as Castro's.

Rafael Cruz - plays the Anglo Card. Sad isn't it. We can have the Anglo who went Hispanic and won't make it as a candidate. Plus, the Hispanic who went Anglo and didn't make it.

To be a presidential candidate from TX, I think you need more gravitas. Governor or Senator, Mayor of Dallas (maybe). Local congressperson - nope.

If you look at the folks who served in Congress and then became President in recent times, they all had some significant other higher level service. Ford, Bush, Nixon.

Even the older ones had more senior service, for the most part.

Beto and Castro - shooting for the VP, as I said.

Don't think we can say that without him having a DNA test. He probably has as much Hispanic blood as Elizabeth Warren has American Indian blood.

Well with the political climate being the way it is, I really doubt we'll see any kind of Hispanic president for quite a while.
