It will be shown on Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve Special to be broadcast on CNN.

Other cities to be shown include New Orleans, Chicago, Los Angeles, Key West, Fla., and Iraq.
  • An estimated 250,000 people are expected to attend the celebration.
  • Firework display will be 17 minutes.

For those who don't know, SA throws the largest block party in Texas on New Years Eve. The event has five-six stages for music and stands for food. Then at midnight, or just before, one of the elevators on the Tower of the Americas ascends to the top and when it reaches the top numbers showcasing the new year light up and a fireworks show begins from the tower's top.

Not too shabby for po-dunksville! I've always wanted to go downtown because I'm sure it's a blast. I just can't summon the courage to get on the road with all the raging drunks afterward. Plus I've heard that it's almost a 2 hour trip out of downtown when it's over.
