Capitalism has gone too far.
It's more likely to be the Spurs, of course. But yes, it's a common thing around here, and I believe they normally do the work.

I'd call the police non-emergency line and ask the question. If it's suspicious you'll have something to turn over to the police to let them follow up.

It's not capitalism, it's copyright law. If you think these licensing laws are bad, you should ask your favorite YouTube poster what happens to their videos when they include copyrighted music.

My brother did that one summer to make some money. It was kind of a fad for awhile - some kid or two or three were doing it for extra funds. It really was a good thing, because a lot of people either had no numbers posted or they were unreadable. $20, paid after the fact, sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Or your favorite local eatery/shop with a stereo after an ASCAP visit!

I tell any solicitor - If I want something, I initiate it and will make the necessary calls. I never do business of any kind with solicitors. In a case like this, I would throw the letter in the trash and forget about it. You haven't authorized it and you are not liable for it.

We've had it done with no trouble. Guy left a bill after it was done for a set price. Never would pay before

If you own a business and somebody else uses your logo or a similar name to yours to steal your business, you might not think so. If you wrote a book or composed a song, are you entitled to the revenue from it? The Spurs, Longhorns, Coca-cola and every other business that owns intellectual property deserves to make money off of their IP.

Hope they don’t sue Longhorn Cafe or Longhorn Steakhouse then.
