I moved to San Antonio not too long ago, and I was planning on taking a Monday thru Thursday off work to spend with my boyfriend. Are there any short getaways that are within a few hours of San Antonio that we could do for a few days? A nice beach or something fun and adventurous? We arent big partiers or drinkers so a big city with cool bars and stuff wouldn't be for us.

Kind of depends on what you'd find interesting....Fredericksburg is a neat town, with lots of antique stores, plus an awesome museum about the Pacific War. There's several other museums there, as well. The area out around Leakey, Medina and such are neat. One of our favorite runs was Bandera - Medina - Vanderpool -Leakey - Camp Wood - then in Barksdale, take Ranch Road (north) 335 to (east) on TX 41, over to Mountain Home, then to Kerrville. Have your camera ready, especially on RR 335 - all kinds of ranches out there with exotic animals!! You could overnight in Kerrville, the go over to Fredericksburg, visit the town and then go out to Enchanted Rock, and the Willow City Loop - LOTS of pretty vegetation out there!

Are you not wanting to fly?
The coast is just screaming so far. Corpus and South Padre are the "usual" ones.
Are you looking for something like camping, or is that a little too roughin-it? Big bend is always popular but that's 400 miles.
Do you have a time frame? (I'm sure some people will have some event ideas for the near future).
Are you trying to do cheap, easy, simple, What priorities or wants?

There's a lot of stuff around here if you are new to the area.
What about an unplanned road trip? Up through to the hill country, swing back through Austin, and just get away. Not sure if you're boyfriend is reading this, but I always found that impromptu trips can really show you what kind of person someone is. Can they make the best out of it, do they complain, are they a hermit or outgoing, how do they deal with silly stress, etc..

Fredericksburg and Wimberly have cool bed and breakfasts you can try. We've also driven down to South Padre - a good five-hour drive, but still worth the trip. Plenty of state parks, too. Pedernales Falls up by Johnson City or Garner out west of here. Google "Scenic road trips" and try one of them. As posted before, there are many that traverse the Hill Country. Have fun!

There are some nice upscale hotel resorts like the:

Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa
Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa

Read the descriptions to see if the facilities and activities are appealing.
