I heard on the radio this morning that he doesn't have the proper license to drive the bus either.

Which leads you to wonder, does your insurance PAY for a 1/2 million dollar bus that you own, were driving without proper license, and were drunk at that??? (Assuming of course he HAD insurance after the other two DWI issues)...

I heard back when the accident happened that the law was vague on whether he needed a special license to drive a bus that he owned, since it was not being used as a public conveyance. Just like the folks who drive $400,000 80-foot RVs don't need a special license for those.

I'm not bothered by the fact that the toxicology reports didn't come out right away. Back when this happened, it wasn't clear if or how Emilio might recover. The government would have appeared awfully cruel to be throwing DUI charges at a guy clinging to life on a ventilator. The media would have had a field day with that.

They do it to regular Joe's, so I'm not buying that. Countless people have been charged by proxy while hooked up to life support. They are treating him differently.

And silly me, I think it's awfully cruel to get behind the wheel drunk out of your mind with friends and family members depending on you to get them home safely.

Probably will pay for injuries/treatment, NOT first party covg for the bus, and then cancel...
MAYBE...
unless, as you suggest, they have already cancelled.....
If not already cancelled:
bigger carrier, more likely to handle as above... smaller carrier, may spend months trying to find case law or policy language that will let them deny...
well, for that matter, even bigger carrier, it will likely take a while to work out....

cvgs on commercial policies is a tricky, dicy thing.... first sentence gives covg, next sentence takes away, next sentence gives it back, yada yada yada yada.... especially for first party covgs, and when there's an expensive third party claim.... yeeeeshhh... a nightmare....
this one, with public microscope, will probably take even longer......
this claim will go on and on for quite a while.....

Nice having our own weather guru and insurance guru!! We need to recruit a lawyer. We have a banker, too. And a realtor (well, lots of those, I think!)
