Hi!
My current employer is closing within the next few months and offering severance packages to all employees. I have decided to move to San Antonio, but have never relocated before. I need an apartment and a new job in San Antonio - but from what I have researched, I need a job before I can get an apartment. BUT - I need an apartment or place to stay so I can look for a job. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

Maybe an "extended stay" type of hotel for a while....until you get your ducks in a row. You could have your mail sent to a PO Box or "Mailboxes etc" type of place, if necessary.
I think you will be able to get an apartment easier than you think...as long as you have some cash reserves. Craigslist is a good place to start in order to seek out private landlords...they would be more likely to work with you than a management company.

You don't say what your line of work is that you would be looking for. That may determine what part of town you want to concentrate your search. Is there any particular reason you are choosing San Antonio? It sort of sounds like you picked it out of a hat. It's quite different than Pittsburgh. My husband is from the Pittsburgh area and still has family there. I think you will find the cost of living here is lower than Pitt. Try to find out what you can online....like the previous poster said....check out Craigslist, etc. Best of luck to you.....you will be welcome in San Antonio.
