THAT'S WHY!
What does that has have to do with the coasts?

I know. It wasn’t directed at you.

I missed that at first so deleted my post but not quick enough. That said I don’t support the coast idea.

Until a cure or some form of medical control is developed, this virus should be kept under tight wraps.

Coronavirus evacuees expected in San Antonio on Friday
https://www.expressnews.com/news/loc...n-15035839.php

"During their quarantine at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, novel coronavirus evacuees from China will be under guard by federal marshals, who will patrol a fenced perimeter around the hotel where they will be housed."

"Evacuees will be evaluated for illness multiple times a day. Should any of the quarantined people fall ill and need medical care of any kind, they will be transported to a local hospital. But McQuiston declined to identify the multiple facilities that have been earmarked by the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District to receive such patients."

Eeek!

Quarantined individuals are already contained on the coasts with knowledgeable medical personnel treating them. Why spread the resources to other locales?

Probably comes down to capacity. The preferred arrangement is individual rooms not open dormitory. Short of the Federal government taking over a hotel or similar facility they can only hold so many people. I think security is also an issue and a military installation provides that.

Three states with documented cases are on the coasts. Three are not.

I saw the plane land yesterday and drove past the facility where they are being housed. Chain link fences, ServPro disaster recovery trailers, and bright lights illuminating the perimeter. I think they have things under control.

I think it’s good to remember these are US citizens or PRs who potentially have been exposed to the virus not people who have exhibited symptoms. Personally I think this is proper and the right thing to do for all concerned.
