Helllo all! Hoping for some help. Coming from Alabama for spring break. While I would LOVE to stay right on the Riverwalk, my husband detests valet and almost as equally detests parking ramps as we drive a very large vehicle and parking in a ramp is always a nightmare. Are there any hotels on the Riverwalk that are parking friendly? We would want to venture out and see all San Antonio has to offer during the day, otherwise I could convince him to valet it and forget it for the week. My daughter and I would love to walk the Riverwalk every night. We will be a party of 6 so a one or two room suite would be ideal. I know I can google it...but being unfamiliar with the area I was hoping a friendly Texan could help me. Thank you!!

Unfortunately, real estate on the river is so expensive that finding surface parking is essentially impossible. Your choices are to either stay in a hotel away from the Riverwalk, or opt for valet parking/parking garage.

Here's an idea. Rent a car to drive down that you don't mind parking in a garage because its not yours. But personally you're probably better off with valet. Get the crowbar out and pry open the wallet.

Marriot Rivercenter's underground parking garage is very easy to navigate, just straight up and down and no curves in the ramps. Hyatt Place Riverwalk on the south edge of downtown has a parking lot in front for guests. Wyndham Garden Inn along the Museum Reach of the river has easy self parking also.

On Houston and Main Street downtown there are some street level parking lots.
I am not sure what the daily rate is, but they are fairly close (as in just a couple blocks walk) to the Holiday Inn Riverwalk and Courtyard By Marriott on the Riverwalk. We've stayed at both of these hotels; both over look the river, are pretty nice and both are on the quieter side of the River Walk.

These are options in the Riverwalk area and have surface street parking available. Walking to the Riverwalk is like 10-15 minutes. Parking fee applies but they are in a parking lot.

Also check out airbnb. Several rental properties are within blocks of the Riverwalk and have parking.
