Lights, Camera, Action Coming To San Antonio - Entertainment News Story - KSAT San Antonio (http://www.ksat.com/entertainment/15986357/detail.html - broken link)

Apparently consists of some 500 acres on the cities south side.

Read more about it - SAF Studios :: Filming San Antonio Style

This is interesting considering San Antonio is a possibility for the massive Villa Muse (http://www.villamuse.com (broken link))

Massive, Sustainable Developments/Film Studios Under Way in Texas and New Mexico - CoStar Group

Austin/Bastrop seem to be frontrunners for this project.

Regardless, this is wonderful for Texas.

I read the article on the viilamuse site and it appears that Austin rejected them and now they are in negations with other Texas cites.

Yeah, but now it appears they are in talks with Bastrop. A study has estimated the studio will have a $2.5 billion impact.

I find it hard to believe that the climate here would be suitable for the outdoor needs of a movie studio.

SAF Studios IS building on the southside.

Villa Muse is an entirely different project. It is much larger. That is the project that wanted to build in Austin but couldn't come to an agreement. Afterwards the studio said they may look at other cities in Texas. San Antonio was named as a possible site. Rumors are now saying that the studio has chosen Bastrop (near the original proposed location).

No one knows anything for sure concerning that second project. All there is now is gossip spread via an internet message board. It's as legit and reliable as me saying Universal plans to build a theme park and film studio near Sea World.

As for the SAF Studio, yep, that's a done deal. I wonder what the first movie is?
