  • Is IKEA coming to San Antonio for sure?
  • If So, When and What location?
  • Krystal Burger on 410 and Ingram has been closed for around 2 months. I want to know if they will still open their other planned locations in the San Antonio area and if so, when and where will they be.

Last I heard and this was from 210 (Where is he by the way) that Ikea was going to be over here in Regal Hills (UTSA Blvd and 10) but other than that I have seen no signs posted they just got the roads all done for regal Hills so now I am guess they will start a building away.

I heard from a reliable source that IKEA was going to Park North Plaza (old Central Park Mall).

Man, I really wanted to try one of those Kristal burgers a few weeks ago, went there to find them shut down, I couldn't believe it! I guess it comes down to the name having no real known value here in San Antonio, just like Carvel didn't (ahem, which delighted me!)...but I do wish a White Castle would open up here - now everyone knows that joint. Those suckers are tasty! BTW, if you want a great homemade-tasting burger (a bit smallish, so I order 2, the glutton I am - my gf eats half of one!), go the the beyond-retro classic Tip Top Cafe on Fredericksburg, great stuff (and don't forget to order their famous onion rings!)

Default All wrong

My friends you haven't tasted a burger until you've tasted one from "In-n-Out" burger. You can find them in California, Nevada, and Arizona.

I did hear IKEA at Regal Hill but that wasn't concrete. It wouldn't surprise me if Regal Hills and Park North Plaza battled for IKEA. I think Park North Plaza is the perfect location for IKEA.

Krystal Burgers opened in early 2006 near 410/Ingram. For about two months there was a long line. They were always packed and you couldn't even go there unless you had some extra time to spare. (Not quite the fiasco of Krispy Kreme a few years prior, but close.) The funny thing is, they closed down in the middle of the year. After everyone had tried them I guess.

Similar story with Krispy Kreme. For a while there were at least 3 stores in San Antonio. But the one on Austin Highway closed around a year ago, and the one at Ingram closed down about a month ago. Only the I10 is still around, as far as I know. The funny thing is that the old Shipley's Donuts on Austin Hwy is still open, and it was just a few blocks from where Krispy Kreme briefly appeared.

Personally I think Whitecastle would do better than Krystal, if only for the name recognition. But I've never eaten there. I *WISH* we could have an In-N-Out Burger, but I doubt that will ever happen.

The problem with Krispy Kreme was their lack of variety. Unless you really liked their supersweet glazed donuts, you were out of luck because there was little else to offer. Many of their donuts were made from the base glazed donut with even MORE stuff added. I grew tired of their supersweet glazed donuts very quickly. Now, I prefer them from just about anywhere BUT there.

Krystle on Ingram is about to re-open. Says so on the sign. Corporate is coming down to handle the operations now, I suppose.
