So I am a bit confused about the deadline to protest. I was told it is May 15th, but I still have yet to get any mail from BCAD.

Has the deadline been extended?

I believe the rule is May 15th OR 30 days after the appraisal is mailed out. A few years ago, BCAD was also behind and we didn’t receive our notice until near the end of May. We still were able to protest.

The May 15th deadline is real. They don't have to send out a Notice unless they are raising your value by more than 10% from previous year. I don't believe they've sent out any notices. They're trying to sneak in a minimal increase across the board due to COVID, and raise everyone's just a minimal amount. You can still file immediately it you go to this link,
http://bcad.org/data/_uploaded/file/...%20PROTEST.pdf

Download the protest form, and email it back to them

You may protest for the following reasons:
ï‚· Incorrect appraised value
ï‚· Value is unequal compared with other properties
**If you need to protest other reasons not listed above, you will need to file your protest
directly with the Bexar Appraisal District, by mail at PO Box 830248, San Antonio, TX 78283 or
fax to 210-242-2454. Property owners may email their protest to: protest@bcad.org
Agents may email their protest to: baprotests@bcad.org
Please be sure to attach any documents and/or photos you
feel will help resolve your case.

That is correct. The deadline is May 15, or 30 days after receipt of notice, whichever is later.
