Comfortable womens and mens shoes in San Antonio and stylish. Is there such a thing and where can we buy them locally?

Dunno - don't own any. I haven't owned a pair of shoes since 3rd grade! Other than 4 years in the Navy, I've always worn boots...

Have you tried Macy's? Dillard's? Penney's? Payless? Oh! Steinmart's a good one, too.

I guess I'm not understanding why it's difficult to find a place to buy shoes. Department stores are the logical place to start. I threw Payless in there because they carry shoes for women who are...um...well endowed in the foot.

Are you looking for something specific?

What type of style are you looking for? Like a heel? A tennis shoe? A flat? a boot? That will at least help me suggest you a good place to start. And consider looking at Zappos.com I believe they offer free shipping back. If you look at reviews for shoes you like are good but then they don't fit you can always send them back.

You didn't indicate what your budget is, but you might check out SAS Shoes. They tend to be pricey, but I think they're well made, and in fact, they have a factory right here in S.A.! One of the few remaining shoemakers in the U.S.

SAS Shoes are mostly made for casual/walking/work, rather than for dress.

I can only comment for women's shoes. I own several pair, but only 2 can I say are comfortable. My "stylish" shoes are Dansko's. I can wear them nearly all day without my feet hurting. They come in a variety of designs. I also see alot of nurses with them so that says something for them there. The other pair of comfy shoes are my work shoes from SAS. They're one of their newer styles and look like sneakers/tennis shoes.

Neither pair/brand are cheap, at least by my standards - $100.00+ per pair. In these cases though I have found them to be worth every penny I paid.

The aerosoles brand is nice. It's available in lots of different stores. Aerosoles - Home
Sometimes you can find them at Rack Room Shoes or JC Penney.
