I am so confused by info out there. First I was told Mexico did NOT close its doors to US, then I heard yes they did by land but not flights. Then I heard people still are crossing by land.
So has anyone crossed lately who is not a Mexican citizen? We are due to go in a few days and now I wonder if will get denied. Here is us, my husband is a Mexican citizen who owns a home and business in Mexico, he will be the driver. I am US citizen as is our children and only have passport cards so flying isn't a option. Please help! Thanks!

On a side note we were gonna enter via Nuevo Laredo as we have in past, it is the shortest route but many are now recommending Eagle Pass as they said its less busy and safer(I don't get scared of this stuff btw).

Yesterday at 7:30PM there was super busy car traffic. Sea of car lights.
In contrary to some news

I would say the border crossing is very busy.

Info about Eagle Pass border crossing:

Getting back into the US is not the problem as a US citizen you cannot be denied entry, it's being allowed to go down that's the confusing part. Border info changes day by day.... so what is valid today might not be valid this weekend. I had a friend who was denied entry on foot by Mexican customs two weeks ago because all she had was her SENTRI Card (her passport is expired), they would not let her in without a passport booklet and Mexican Customs does not accept the SENTRI Card or the Passport Card. She mentioned they were willing to let her Mexican husband through as his documents were in order.

The border is currently open, but the guidelines (from both US and Mexico) for crossing are stricter and as an American Citizen without an actual passport booklet you run a huge risk of being turned away if crossing on foot or even by car in these times.

Thanks and that is so cool to see the action! Being that busy they have to be letting people in and out I would think.

Yes this seems to be the problem now. I wonder why they wouldn't accept a passport card when it is solely for that purpose of crossing by land. Did your friend say why?

I am seriously nervous now as we only have passport cards. Did your friend say which border they crossed? I hear this is a big deal as I am hearing crossing in parts of Arizona are nit restricted at all.

Get a passport booklet. They are not that hard to get unless you owe child support or something like that.

https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...icoborder.html

It should work going South Bound as well after looking it up. I was thinking the Passport card would not be accepted if SENTRI wasn't since the SENTRI CARD (which requires US federal security clearance and is essentially a fast-pass card going North into the US) hold's more weight coming North bound than the Passport card. Even though it has a higher standard going North bound, it apparently doesn't going South bound and SENTRI is not recognized by Mexico like the passport booklets and card are.

U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport book or card, in addition to an entry permit (Forma Migratoria Multiple or FMM) issued by Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM).

Right now the border regs are changing day to day so still travel at your own risk. Good luck.

Thanks and it seems people driving across the border are getting through easier than by foot. I saw somewhere else people on foot were also getting denied entry. Maybe because your in the car , not sure. I just hope we don't get that one who plays strict by the rules, lol.
