Dallas gets one a month. They have a regional population of almost 9 million people and massive suburbs providing great infrastructure.

in order to get San Antonio to get Fortune 500 companies we need to get our politicians to stop thinking backwards and trying to keep San Antonio a one horse town. They need to really step up and update this town. Until we do that.. we can continue to watch them go everywhere but here.

In their defense we had 7 at one point and some were gobbled up by competitors. We need to do like Austin get secondary campuses first.

A bright light is the thousands and thousands of manufacturing jobs that have great wages depending on the manufacturing company.

I never did really understand the AT&T move though. That was a 5 hour move within Texas and all because of flight options?

Currently in SA there are three.

#32 Valero Energy
#94 USAA
#492 Rush Enterprises in New Braunfels.

I've never even heard of Rush, I will have to look them up to see what they are about and worth investing in if publicly traded.

It was for a better airport as far as I recall.

AT&T relocating due to the lack of direct flights into and out of San Antonio was a bunch of baloney, IMO.

For starters, AT&T corporate aircraft operated out of San Antonio International, where they leased a hangar. No need to book flights on a cattle car and go through a security line. Just swipe into the gate & drive in, at least as far as executive staff. Tell the pilot where you need to go.

For the lower-level staff, did it really involve extensive travel? Could have lobbied the air carriers serving SAT, in an effort to get expanded markets, if unmet demand was really there. Pretty costly to relocate a headquarters, along with uprooting all that staff. I wonder if DFW, other than having more direct flights to more places, is really more convenient for their staff than SAT?

In reality, couldn't a company in the business of providing communications services showcase their technology, by conducting as much business as possible by utilizing telecommunications, remote interactive meetings, web conferences, etc.? Saves money & time compared to in-person travel.

Other factors had to be driving their relocation.
