Does anyone know when the Albertsons on Wurzbach opened? Bexar CAD says 1975 but that’s wrong since there was only 2 Albertsons open that year (West and Walzem). If anyone can help me find the correct opening date I’d appreciate it, thank you.

It was here in September '80, seems like the building got a major makeover/expansion a year or two before the chain bailed on San Antonio market.

I am curious why you ask so much about San Antonio and South Texas retail/restaurant arrivals and closures.
What kind of project are you working on ?

This project: https://strretaildatabase.blogspot.com/ I'm lacking resources that my two friends have (they live in Houston and have access to all of their newspaper articles, SA's only goes to 1977) hence why I have to do this. I would rather I not but I just lack resources to fully complete the retail that I want to put on that page (even the Kroger list is unfinished)

Good stuff, I opened up my first bank account as a 20 year old in the year 2000 at the Albertson's 5707 Bandera Rd you have pictured. They had an IBC bank location inside, I am pretty sure all Albertson's in San Antonio had IBC location.

Perhaps you could tour San Antonio Express News building. They have many papers framed on the walls. Lots of news to read...

Or check this:

BTW: I wonder if you could just write a nice email to the Corp office, tell them about your project and ask for assistance. Did you try that?

Albertsons was my first job as a kid. Glad they are out of San Antonio and HEB rules as the compassionate king here. Never loved a grocery store until I saw an HEB.
