Ok...here's the thing...my neighbor who is selling his house is now residing out-of-state. We share the same water line, so whenever a water pipe is being used on his end, the pipes at my house would make a "helicopter" noise. It feels like my pipes are under pressure and would burst any time.

So, I called him and his realtor and mentioned the situation. He supposedly had gotten it fixed. I haven't called him to complain for the past few months, until recently. I called him again and he said he would take care of it. I waited for weeks before I called him (again) and left a message. He has not returned my calls. I don't know if he's avoiding my calls, but I'm a neighbor who's easy to get along with.

Question: What is my next step? The first time we called, the realtor suggested to call the builder. Both our houses are approximately ~3 to 4 yrs old. What has the builder got to do with it? Shouldn't it be the resposibility of the owner? If I feel like my issues are being dismissed, what should I do? Bring it up with the HOA? I'm a first-time homeowner. Bought my house less than 6 months, and I just don't know if there's a neighborly protocol in getting this resolved.

Any input is greatly appreciated

I don't get it...if he's residing out of state, how are the pipes being used on his end?

i think it's in auto or somehow the realtor visits the house so the lawn can be taken cared of and looks great

He's probably waiting you out until the house sells...then let the "new guy" deal with it.

great...sooo...i'm suppose to do what??? tolerate it?? with the market nowadays...I don't know how long that will be =(

I called a plumber because I thought it was on my end, but he said it's not mine...it's his. His pipes are louder than mine, esp in his garage.

I'm just being honest. It can't be that bad ,with no one living there.

Realtor probably takes a crap, flushes the toilet once (or twice if he's eaten Mexican ) and waters the lawn for a few minutes....how bad can that be?

i know firstclassflyer...thank you for your honesty.

sooo...you're saying my hands are tied. how much pressure can a pipe handle anyway? maybe i'm naive in a sense, but what if a pipe burst? who's going to pay for that? =(

Maybe you can call SAWS and say you think he's wasting water somehow, due to the bad sound of the pipes...just an idea.

I'm wondering if he has sprinklers on a timer or something. The part that confuses me, is how his water usage effects your pipes. Did the plumber explain that?

I understand that you don't want to wait for the pipes to burst, but until that happens, there may not be anything that can be done. If I were you I'd ride the Realtor since he's not responding to you. You might kindly mention that you may need to consult an attorney if he does not respond in a timely manner to have a professional evaluate the situation. Sometimes that works....sometimes it doesn't ...unless you actually retain an attorney that will contact the owner for you.
