Hi y'all. Last year my yard had a pretty decent grub population and I want to avoid that this year. When is the best time to treat for grubs and lawn pests?

Not an expert but from what I've been reading, it's too early to treat for grubs in our region according to:

Lawn Care Questions of Spring - Neil Sperry's GARDENS

White Grubs in Texas Turfgrass (scroll down to Chemical control)

A few years ago I found a good price on Scotts Turf Builder with Insect Control, but a timely article said the active ingredient (bifenthrin, a pyrethrin) sticks to the uppermost clay layer and doesn't penetrate down where needed. I have yet to do full yard application but I did try spot treatments with carbaryl. Where I have paver squares, I turn them over periodically and remove a few dozen manually.
