That section of 10 is being expanded to three lanes from 410 all the way out to Texas 130. The next phase just started from 1604 to FM 775.

In other news, my property taxes also continue to soar...
I like that the value of my land has gone up as much as it has but I have no intentions of selling so this doesn't benefit me at this time. It makes it difficult to budget and plan for as well, this year I had to shell out an additional $800 dollars I hadn't budgeted for and this is after years of stability in the prop tax amount.

That has been my case for a very long time but I am slowly warming up to selling and moving now that I don't want a swimming pool anymore. I should have never had a pool installed, not really for the financial reasons but because I don't want to maintain something I don't use much anymore.

Agree, swimming pools are nice until you have to maintain them yourself. Even above ground pools, which I have on my Texas property, can be a pain in the rear end to clean and maintain. On the plus side, there was plenty of water on the property during the water outages of last month. We left our pool up with water this winter and since it was so cold during the ice storm, no algae growth so no chlorine needed. Water was ok to use for various purposes, but we didn't have to resort to drinking it

Protest the appraisal to Bexar Appraisal District, I do every year. I don't get the appraisal back down to the pervious year but instead of a 10,000 to 12,000 rise maybe to 2,000. I always go before a panel, citizens of the community seem to be more sympathetic than just a BAD appraiser.

Hah! They'll shoehorn 10 houses on that acre.

You can tell when a neighborhood was built by the size of the lots in most cases.

Just be aware that rejecting the BCAD appraiser's offer & going the Formal Review Board route doesn't guarantee a better deal.

It happened to my sister & BIL one year here in Bexar County. At the formal hearing, the board did not agree to lower the appraisal as much as the informal appraiser, so they were stuck with the Review Board's higher number. You don't get to choose between the lower of the two.

Also, the review board is not comprised of what I would call "ordinary citizens", at least nothing like 100%.

Yeah, the review board every time I go protest doesn't seem to be composed of "ordinary citizens".
