Hi, I'm looking to rent a kind of urban, apartment/condo within walking distance of the Riverwalk. I don't have specific requirements except that it's a nice place within walking distance. City views, etc are a plus

If you know of such a place, please let me know.

Thanks.

Depending on your budget, there are some new apartments being built just NE of Market Square, across from Milam Park. From what ive read, rent for a studio should start at about 700 per month. They are still a few months from completion but they should be nice consdering they are brand new construction. The name of the place is "The Vistana", they have a website, but don't know it off the top of my head. Also, there is a building to the SW of the greyhound station that has some pretty nice apartments. Don't know the name though. And from what ive heard, reasonable rent.

The Maverick Building, 606 N. Presa comes to mind. Also the Calcasieu at 214 Broadway.
These are older buildings right in the middle of downtown. I don't know the rents but I do know they are nice secure buildings in the heart of downtown.

Replying a little late... but hopefully this will help. There are some apartments in the old Robert E Lee hotel that I noticed because they have a huge window decal advertising an all bills paid apartment starting at something like $500 a month! I am bad with directions... you can see them from the Frost Bank building on Houston and Main? or thereabouts. If you check them out let me know.. I've been very curious about them since I first saw them. If we had no kids at home we'd probably live there (no need for a yard and all that).

It's been said before, but let me echo it here:

Talk to Debbie Maltz at Centro Properties... She's the queen of downtown properties, both for lease and own. She's got stuff everywhere: Riverwalk, SoFlo, Monte Vista, Government Hill, Alamo Heights, etc. Easy to deal with and really straight forward. I like her a whole lot.

She's currently got this AWESOME bungalow in the Pearl District. It's absolutely charming and totally re-done.

Yep, what he said! There are some "newbies" in the downtown area that claim to be Downtown Specialists (particularly one from that "PB" firm), but Debra is the authority!!
