No, I am not a virologist, but I have enough econometrics to recognize trends.
From the below graph, the cases have crested as have deaths which is a lagging indicator. Nirenberg and Wolfe are both extolling their efforts for the decline. The virus has a predictable life cycle of its own despite the draconian measures that our tyrants try to impose on us and then tout that they work.

I was just informed by someone I know that they talked with a friend on the phone who told them they'd met up with another friend who was positive for Covid. They had lunch together. This person also said they weren't changing their New Year's plans to go out to clubs and also were not going to even bother being tested for covid.

This is not being responsible in any way, shape or form. This is just plain utter selfishness and recklessness and not caring one whit about your own life or the lives of others.

Not only do we have at least one covid positive person who knows they have it choosing to go into the public spaces where others are unmasked and eating food but they're willing to meet with a friend and possibly infect them, which could lead to thousands more infections and possible deaths. Then we have the person who decides it's fine to meet with a covid positive friend, risk being infected, then choosing to not even find out if you have it before going to more public places where people will be unmasked and eating etc.

It doesn't get worse than this. This is akin to actually deliberately spreading a potentially deadly infection to others. It's reckless endangerment. These two people are a danger to the public health. The constitution does NOT protect these people. They have no right to knowingly expose other people to a potentially deadly infection.

All it takes is one fool to spread covid to thousands of people or more. This is why "personal responsibility" will NEVER work. People are TOO DAMN SELFISH.

We can always count on the same redneck bullies to try and smack anyone with a different opinion than theirs on this forum. People *are* acting irresponsibly out there. All you can do is arm yourself with a protective stance and wait for the unprotected idiots to kill themselves off. Darwin at work.

It's always good to see folks recognize their shortcomings. If your way worked, this would've been stopped when folks WERE willing to "go along with the program". As they saw that there would be limited results vs the overall decline in quality of life and costs of compliance, they sought reasonable alternatives.

Tyrants? Get a grip. The reason Nirenberg wants a mask mandate is because "personal responsibility" doesn't work. People are too busy worrying about their "freedumb" to care about others.

Wear a damn mask and get over your selfish selves.

Thanks, but no.

The omicron variant is within a week of tapering off and will be virtually gone by the end of the month.

Nirenberg can take his meaningless bow.

No, not because of wearing a mask or anything else.

Even an N95 mask is no more effective than a screen door in a West Texas dust storm.

I agree with this personally, but my thoughts don’t mean a heckuvalot. As much as I hate it, between the Texas Governor, the Legislature and their unwillingness to endorse mask mandates, etc. all you can do is avoid situations that make you uncomfortable (avoid large crowds, wear a mask yourself, etc.). You win some, you lose some.
