I was listening to KTSA today and there were predictions for 2007 with TJ Connally. He said by the end of January, Tom Benson will announce the Saints are moving to SA. I normally wouldn't give this a lot of credibility, but Connally seems to be pretty well connected with the movers and shakers in SA.

Hey man, your crazy. Not really, but this is not going to happen. The Saints are in New Orleans to stay for the time being. The decision was made last year. New Orleans are going to the playoffs, too, with a chance to go to the Super Bowl. Do you think he would move the team? San Antonio has next to no luck at getting an NFL team, because Los Angeles is next in line. No way the league passes up 22 million people for 2 million in San Antonio.

I don't see SA getting the Saints anytime soon either but your reasoning that LA is a shoe-in doesn't ring true. You state that no way will the league bypass 22 million people in choosing one that has 2 million...I seem to remember a few years ago when the league bypassed those same 22 million people for 5 million people (Houston). If the league was that adamant about getting a team into LA, they'd have done it b/c LA is more than 4X larger than Houston and is a larger media market.

Default football team

People do not want a football team if the taxpayer has to fund a new stadium or renovations to the tune of millions.

I am from L.A. & I do not care that we have an NFL team we have USC which is our football tem.

I do agree the NFL wants a team in LA first, but LA doesn't seem to give a lick about getting one. Tom Benson has some serious ties to SA and SA taxpayers seem to have no problem paying for sports arenas.

Like I said, the only reason I even posted this was because of who it came from. I don't know Connally, but from what I hear of him he is very involved with the higher ups in this town and I really don't think he would of said that if there wasn't a good chance of it happening.

I don't know why he said it because it won't happen. So, they renovated and extended the Saints' lease at the Superdome for nothing huh? And Houston came out with a higher bid and better stadium. San Antonio is a lot smaller to Los Angeles than Houston. Houston did not have too small of a media market, so it didn't hurt the NFL as much.

Texans love football much more then Californians! The loyal fan base is unbeatable. I heard Arena Football is moving all over Texas.

You're probably right, Montevista...there are currently two Arena Football teams in Texas right now..Dallas and Austin...and they are very popular. I wouldn't be surprised if both Houston and San Antonio get a team in the near future too.
