The Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education released a study on higher education in America’s metropolitan areas. Overall, SA ranks in the middle of the pack or slightly lower in the categories measured. However, we're growing quite significantly in most of those categories as well:

Express-News article:
MySA.com: Metro | State (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA.052108.HIGHEREDRANKINGS..EN.37bb7d1.html - broken link)

The article does say SA is the "35th largest metro area", but the report used Metropolitan Divisions and MSAs as their units of measurement, rather than CMSAs (or whatever we're calling them nowadays) and MSAs, so that bounced us down the list. (The report was based on 2005 data. We're actually 32nd on that list now.)

This is definitely a positive step forward for San Antonio. I'm sure we weren't even at that level a decade, or even just a few years ago. We're experiencing positive growth on many levels, and checkpoints like these just reinforce that we're moving in the right direction.

Keep it up, SA!
