I'm so glad after 15 years we are finally moving out of this horrid city which has been named "the most inequitable city in America" more than once..a distinction that I'm sure some(but not all) san antonio residents find apalling.

I always thought about this when looking at old pictures (pre 1960) of San Antonio downtown area with not a single Latino in any of the pics. Latinos went through a lot of trials and tribulations just like African-Americans during those times. Segregation.

I googled 1950 San Antonio and this is literally the first result. Sheesh...

I didn't read the lengthy attached commentary in full, but what I read, along with accompanying historical photos and images, looked to be of events that occurred here 50-100 years ago. Sad as it may be, I'm sure the story was similar for many large communities throughout the country, during that era.

But we can't change the past. We have to put that behind us, and move forward.

The 2020 Census put the Hispanic population of San Antonio at 65%, and non-Hispanic white at 24%. 1970 Census, (the first that separated Hispanic/non-Hispanic white, AFAIK), had Hispanics at 45% and non-Hispanic white at 47%. The 1950s certainly would have had a smaller Hispanic percentage vs. non-Hispanic white than 1970.

Funny - I attended school with blacks, Mexicans, and others from all over. Never paid it any mind, nor did my friends or their parents....that was in the 60's AND on the NS of San Antonio. It always amuses me how we want to drag up the past in order to make others look bad. How are things TODAY - and what are YOU doing to affect change? THAT is the real issue at hand, IMO.
