I just heard about this today. Surprised it hasn't been posted? Maybe I am missing it.

Elon Musk might be in headlines this week mostly as the new owner of Twitter, but his other company you may have heard of, Tesla, recently became one of San Antonio's largest tenants with a lease on the Far Eastside. Tesla will occupy a 439,809-square-foot industrial park space at Foster Ridge 2 at 7015 Lancer Blvd., according to a recent leasing report from Dallas-based real estate company CBRE.
...
Tesla has been increasing its presence within San Antonio for the past year-and-a-half. In March, Tesla filed plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to convert an old dealership near the San Antonio airport into a $1.9 million service center and dealership. Tesla then filed more plans in April to build a $6.5 million repair center on the Northwest Side of San Antonio at Laureate Drive and Clarke Drive just west of I-10.

It's not yet clear what Tesla has planned for the Foster Ridge 2 space. The company has been working on ramping up production on its newer "4680" batteries to keep its Austin Giga Texas car plant from being a furnace "burning" through billions of dollars. Mexico granted Tesla a dedicated lane at the Texas-Mexico border station in Nuevo Leon. Tesla reportedly uses parts from six companies in Mexico.

He thinks it’s Austin. He’ll be surprised when he sees it’s actually in San Antonio. (Said with the utmost sarcasm).

Much like Toyota is headquartered in Plano but Toyota Texas plant is in San Antonio.
Tesla’s Austin presence is very much manufacturing based as well though. Unlike Toyota NA

Either way, eastsiders should get ready for their rents to go up. The last place I lived here jumped something like $300 a month and north of my neighbors worked at the southeast Austin Tesla plant.

The old BMW dealership just south of the airport. Didn't know that was considered the "far" Eastside.

It's not.
The industrial site off of Foster road and I-10 he acquired is about as Eastside as you can get. Read the first paragraph again.

Good news - employment in a higher-tech manufacturing company will give a lot of young folks a reason to stay in SA.
