Uvalde ended up having to utilize resources from Uvalde CISD Police, City Of Uvalde Police, Uvalde County Sheriff, Texas DPS, and US Customs and Border, resulting in a delayed plan of action due to lack of coordination between agencies.
That doesn't excuse the Uvalde chief's orders to stand down and let children get killed.

I agree. Blaming this in whole or in part in inadequate resources is disingenuous.

However I do agree those two Nashville cops ended the situation well in comparison to not only the Uvalde cops but Texas law enforcement in general.
I was just thinking, didn't a LEO in Uvalde spot the shooter as he was running toward the school with a rifle in hand, after he crashed the truck he was driving?

Apparently so, according to this account:

Since when do police officers have to ask for permission before shooting? Was it because it was on school grounds?

I don't even think Uvalde was as bad as the cop at the Stoneman Douglas/Parkland shooting. Dude literally ran AWAY from the shooting. Lost his job for it too.

Quote:
The Broward County Sheriff's Office received widespread criticism for its handling of the police response, both for not following up on multiple warnings about Cruz despite a lengthy record of threatening behavior and for staying outside the school instead of immediately confronting him.[9] This led to the resignations of several police officers who responded to the scene, and the removal of Sheriff Scott Israel.[9] A commission appointed by then-Governor Scott to investigate the shooting condemned the police inaction and urged school districts across the state to adopt greater measures of security.[9][10]
I know wikipedia is not a great source, but it works in this case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonem...chool_shooting

Many police officers are like this. They soak in all the power bestowed upon them and praise given to them "for putting their lives on the line" while out and about in the community until they actually face the situation such as this school shooting and their own safety suddenly becomes priority #1.

I've attended enough "Final Calls" to understand that many officers will make the ultimate sacrifice if called upon. Those that won't are generally run off from their departments by other officers because of their cowardice.
The incident in Uvalde....IMO, NONE of the officers there should ever be allowed to wear a badge again.

I dunno. Just saying “many police officers are like this” seems like a statement that is more intended to validate your own personal beliefs than actually demonstrates it is true. I guess it could be true, but I suspect that bad police behavior gets a lot more attention than good police behavior, so bad actors get more public attention.

I didn't say it is true or false, it is indeed based off my own personal feeling, observations, and examples such as this Uvalde shooting incident. Weren't there "many" of them in Uvalde that day?
