Anyone on the posts live outside of loop 410, say Castle Hills, and commutes to BAMC or thereabouts?

We're relocating in July and I'll be working at BAMC. We do not want to live outside of the 1604 loop, and like the Shavano Park, Castle Hills area where we can likely get a nice house with a pool?.

Any recommendations or personal experience? Thank you.

why not look at a city like windcrest. It's much more convinent to BAMC, and all ready has a high concentration of millitary officers. Windcrest also has it's own golf course and tennis center.

I am at Hart Ranch and we have a few miltary that go to work over at Fort Sam and say the commute is not that bad. The biggest intersection in 10/DeZavala jabout a mile off of 10. Some of the homes here have a pool but we also have a great neighborhood pool.

Neddy, so there is not that much traffic going into town on I-10? in the morning and reverse in the afternoon? I'm used to the L.A. traffic, so am worried about traffic on the big interstates.

From where you live I'd have to go right through downtown to Fort Sam.

There is but most of the time they said it takes 30 mins or less. They did not mind making the trade off because of all the newer stuff in the area and things to do on this side of town vs. the other side and they liked being in Northside ISD more for the kids. Not to say the other side is not good but they said they just liked this area more. There are still lots of miltary in the area but the whole neighborhood is not miltary where as some of the other areas closer to the base were.
