The indictment says the Army’s money funded her lavish lifestyle.
Mello was working as the civilian financial program manager at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio when prosecutors moved on criminal charges against her, alleging she enriched herself with federal money.

Mello is accused of having siphoned off $100 million from the U.S. Army by claiming she controlled an organization providing services to military members and their families, Child Health and Youth Lifelong Development.

Prosecutors say not only did Mello continually file paperwork falsely representing herself as an agent of an organization that serves military members, but they also say she falsified a digital signature of one of her supervisors on more than one occasion, causing prosecutors to file identity theft charges.

How one could be a civilian employee, live lavish life on such level and no one noticed???

Of course another question is how could she be so stupid and greedy that less than $100M would not have been enough to skip town never to be seen again? This is a classic case of Forrest Gump's Mother saying that "Stupid is as stupid does!".

How about that...employed on a military base with government dollars (tax payer's money) for her greedy escapades. She's done with zero remorse from the public. Her name is all over the main-stream. What a dummy.

I wonder what GS rank she was. If her "lifestyle" didn't match her rank, that should've caused some nosey people in her organization to give her the side-eye question it.

Some more details released about this terrible human being.

Quote:
A millionaire conwoman has been accused of swindling the US Army out of $100million over six years by putting cash into her fake military youth business and splurging it on 31 homes and more than 70 supercars and motorcycles.

It was the IRS flagged that her lifestyle - buying million-dollar homes multiple times a year - was not supported by her salary.
How stupid can she be?

This is absolutely unbelievable. I'm sure there are many more folks out there scamming clueless Uncle Sam and will probably never get caught.
