You're welcome. It's what I do for a living (the disease stuff, not the organic farming)

Technically, it's an infection. The bacterium infects you. A poison is a different thing altogether. But the effect may be similar. You can treat a bacterial infection with antibiotics though, usually.

He didn't have to be hospitalized, because he was still nursing a lot.. his pedi at the time said that if he'd been weaned she would have hospitalized him to make sure he was getting fluids but becuase he was nursing he could stay home.
Makes the nursing all worthwhile, doesn't it? When my daughter was almost 17 months old she got croup. Refused to eat or drink anything, but she nursed like a newborn, so I knew she was at least getting some nutrients. I called her pedi who said as long as she kept nursing, not to worry. I knew she could breathe because she could nurse! We've been lucky in that we haven't had any real diarrheal illnesses - a few loose stools on occasion, but nothing significant.

Poor thing, glad to hear he was fine! Salmonella can be really lousy to get. For most people it's self-limiting, but it can still take a lot of out of you.

I got what I think was salmonella in Mexico. We had been very careful to avoid street food, thinking restaurants would be safer. Nope! Quite the opposite, as street stalls have faster turn around. The worst of it was over in about 3 days, but it took a good 2-3 weeks before we felt back to normal. Now I always eat street food in every country

As of 5 June, there have been 35 cases of salmonella poisoning in Texas. It is being picked up on by CNN and Fox News as more grocery stores and restaurants are pulling their tomatoes...

Cheers! M2

and I'm seriously wanting a BLT. My wife told me to just have a BL, but the T is what makes the BLT! Is there a secret place to get any? I'd pay extra, but won't drive all the way across the city, so anywhere near SeaWorld or Lackland please.

I just bought greenhouse tomatoes at the HEB at Tezel/Grissom yesterday. Only one person here at work has eaten them, and so far, so good.

HEB is still selling tomatoes on the vine.

And the infectious disease scientist in me cringes when I hear it called 'poisoning'.....but that's my issue

We just had blt's the other night for dinner. Bought the tomatos on the vine at HEB on 1604/Potranco. Went to Papa Murphys last week and ordered a pizza with tomotos and that's how I heard about it as they have to use sundried ones right now.

News reports say that the tomatoes in question did not come from Texas...

So, if you can score some locally-grown tomatoes, you should be good to go. Of course, I wouldn't stray too far from a toilet!

Cheers! M2
