Manufacturing (particularly things like micro-controllers and other electronics) actually uses quite a bit of water in cooling systems, as well as to deionize or distill for liquid rinses, etc.

*shrug*

It is possible that SAWS added up all HEB use and just choose that address to put on the list. I'm just guessing though. That could be where HEB has all their mail delivered, and internally route from there.

Hmmm. Maybe, although I'd expect their mail to go through corporate HQ rather than the distribution center, and it was specific for the distribution center, rather than just 'all heb.' If it was all HEB, I would have expected SAWS to note that on the list, rather than give just that address. I figured it was based on meter readings.

I'm just curious, since apart from maybe washing down bays, I can't see where they use much water - it's offices and storage and well, a distribution center, not manufacturing.

Doesn't HEB have a generic bottled water brand?

They do have offices in a couple of different locations around town, Downtown, Fredericksburg Road, and the Distribution Center, so If you are already doing a mail run around town it makes sense to centralize receiving of outside mail also.

Another wild guess is maybe that they bottle the in house soda brands there?

HEB uses so much because they bottle it. That's my guess. If you buy HEB water and read the fine print, it is just municiple water.

THANK YOU!!!
That's what I've been saying for ages. My g/f didn't believe me until I refilled a bunch of empty bottled water bottles with filtered water from the fridge and mixed them in with the new ones, and she didn't notice.

Yep, why spend the money trucking it in... Edwards water is essentially the same as any spring water anyway... Where bottled water isnt' so great is when they use surface water...
