Within the same article they say that the fire was started by "some electrical wires", and by "food left cooking".

Wondering if perhaps the food was cooking in an electric appliance, such as a crockpot, which either had faulty wiring or was plugged into an outlet with faulty wiring???

Only explanation I could think of for the two statements.

I think the real explanation for the conflicting statements is sloppy journalism and the rush to get stories posted online in order to beat the TV stations.

Wow, a definite shame. Piedras was a San Antonio landmark for me.

This is a sad day indeed. I loved Piedras. It's been my institution for great Mexican food since moving to San Antonio...

With so many other 'institutions' opening up suburb copies of their main branch, it was nice to see Piedras stick to the tried-and-true. I really hope they have the ability to rebuild in the same location. What a shame.
