And....9 years later here I am...late to the party.

I grew up in Pleasanton, but we came to church in S.A. We also did a lot of things up here and have family who live in S.A.

I remember in 1967 and 1968 meeting people in Capn Jim's parking lot. It was convenient. I think I do have pictures of the outside. We (my brother and sister and I) loved eating there, too. I am back in San Antonio from out of state to see my grandson graduate and for a family reunion. I was Googling places I remembered from those long ago times. Capn Jims was on the top of the list.

I remember Captain Jim's. My family used to go there as our primary restaurant. We had 3, Captain Jim's, El Rancho, and Luby's. My father was stationed when I was born at Lackland and returned there after 4 years in Germany and a year in Vietnam. I think he first found the place when I was born as we lived near Bernard and Lucinda (old family friends there) or maybe on Langford, South Flores and Roosevelt would have been the two fast ways to Loop 13 (or Pleasanton too if Langford).

I had my first American Coca Cola there, disgusting thing. German and Mexican are much better (I still purchase Mexican Coca Cola when I find it). I made the mistake of asking what type cokes they had, which in Germany was basically asking what flavors of soda pop they had.

I think my father gave me a spanking there for not sitting still and behaving.

I am not sure about the rest of the menu but I remember they had very very good hamburgers. I know my parents never ate hamburgers at a restaurant, but we returned often so they must have enjoyed the other items on the menu also.
