Sorry to hear your area is getting hit. With all this commercial and residential growth on this side of town; the crime is coming along with it. Westcreek just hosted a two evening class for the C.O.P. Cellular on Patrol) program and they are planning to follow-up with more. The Bexar County Sheriffs Office teaches you how to recognize, observe, report activities we see in our neighborhoods. We need to be more pro-active and protect our neighborhood now; before it turns bad. When we ban together and make it difficult for the criminals; they'll find easier targets elsewhere. You can get more info by going down to the Community Center and requesting to participate in the next class.

if you spend the money on wheels i suggest you get an alarm and not that factory junk alarm either. get an aftermarket alarm with a shock sensor, glass breakage sensor, and most importantly a tilt sensor for the wheels.

another thing to look at is lug nut locks. if it has 5 lugs on each wheel i suggest 5 sets of locks. it sounds like overkill, but any half decent thief can take a lug nut lock off in just a few extra seconds than a regular lugnut. 5 on each wheel will only slow them down and may frustrate them enough to leave it alone.

Has there been anything else going on in the neighborhood? We had a police officer parked on our street last week and he was out looking around at some fences. It seemed strange but I didn't have time to stop and ask what was going on.

I am in a neighborhood close to WC and have noticed Bexar County driving around the neighborhood around 2 and 3 in the morning.

Westcreek folks - don't feel bad - you aren't the only ones with the rim situation. Went to our neighborhood watch meeting for the Great Northwest area (Tezel/Grissom/Culebra) and turns out, folks here (Emerald Valley I think) have found their cars on blocks and the high dollar rims gone.

Also, as a heads up - we have had a series of thefts of potted plants and lawn ornaments taken from peoples front yards. Best guess is, you can find your stuff for sale at the local flea markets. Stay alert!

We're in a neighborhood that experiences a LOT of this now too. The homes with motion detector lights, security cameras and insomniacs are NEVER hit though. One or two out of three works, believe me. I wouldn't wish the insomniac part on anyone but that's what happens when you have neighbors like mine. They've officially made me crazy.

Anyway, maybe gas will continue to go down enough so that they can leave the lawn ornaments and the little stuff alone!!

Honestly, with our camera and lights we're one of the few houses that hasn't been targeted and we leave stuff outside on purpose sometimes to see if the camera helps (nothing that it would kill us to lose). We're also on the corner RIGHT by the main exit. Statistically speaking we should be missing the MOST stuff but we've always been on top of security measures because of where our home is located.

If a camera system is too pricey they sell fake ones for 12 bucks!

Sorry you guys are going through this too.

I'll second the OT and mention that Westcreek does have its good. Yesterday someone came to my door because they were trying to find out whose dog had broken out of the fence and was pretty much stuck on the sidewalk that runs along Westcreek Oaks. They described it as one of my neighbors, but I told them I didn't think they had a dog and they are rarely even there. Later on another person came also trying to find the owner of the dog and they also had the wrong house. I didn't know this at the time and was starting to think my neighbor belonged in jail for leaving a dog chained up in their back yard to basically die. The problem was it wasn't a little dog and they called it a pit bull, so everyone was afraid to help it because it could've been dangerous. My wife and daughter drove back there after the third person came to the door and we figured out it was actually the neighbor two houses away in the opposite direction. Turns out the dogs had actually broke through the fence and one was loose and the other still chained up. The first person home took care of them and other people helped put the fence back together. That was a nice happy ending and I'm very glad it didn't turn out to be an animal abuse thing. It would be pretty hard to live next to someone like that and not do something to them..

Rd- Was it the house where the lady does the on-line porn? The one on the corner? Her dogs are always busting the boards on the fence.

Good to know. (the dogs more than the porn) We walk around that area quite a bit and would like to be aware of dogs that are not on leashes.
