My hubby and I recently moved here. My husband is looking for a barber shop that is old fashioned where they give you a shave (straight razor with cream and a hot towel) with the haircut. Anyone know of a good place?

Thanks

Tell him to try Leon Valley Barber Shop at 5437 Grissom. They've been there for years. 210-684-4720.

Harvey's Barber Shop - corner of West Ave & Blanco. Straight Razors, shoe shine guy in the corner and good conversations with the regulars waiting....old school all the way.

There is a great place my fiance likes going to called Roosters. They have 3 locations in San Antonio...one on Bandera and 1604. They'll even give your husband a FREE cold beer while he waits for his shave. Pretty cool... hope that helps!

Dumb question... but here goes..

I am growing a beard out, and am looking for a barber to do the initial shaping/shaving. Will these types of places do that?

I certainly hope that you're growing an adult's beard and not one of those little "goatees" (just kidding). Anyway, I do know that Roosters does this. When I had a beard (the adult kind), I would have them shape or re-shape it for me every once in a while. They do a great job too.

What side of town are you on? This place in Valley Hi (SW) called "Razor Sharp Cuts" does stuff like this
