I have the joy of going through this charming interchange everyday. The absolute worst part is merging from 1604 East onto 281 North. Very few people actually understand what merge means, others feel that while we all sit in the left lane they can fly past us at 40mph and then practically rip our front bumper off while they "merge" into that lane.

I think you mean at the yield sign and turn off to sonterra. That right lane doesnt become a turn only until very close to the sonterra turn so its perfectly acceptable to take the right lane and then move to the lane that merges onto 281. I do it all the time and it works fine..people seem to park in the left lane for no reason when its very easy to get around that traffic.

My boss just opened her new business on 281/Evans road, I live close to Nakoma/281 (West Ave.), I have to leave 40 minutes early to make it to work on time during peak hours. Without traffic, it's a 15 minute drive!

Default Oops

Yes, that's the yield I mean at Sonterra. I know it is acceptable to take the right lane, my concern is the people that travel at 40mph the right lane then basically remove my bumper to get in front of me. It's just poor planning to have 3 lanes merge into one at an intersection like that

Yeah its a horrible intersection. I'm fascinated that there isnt more wrecks when you are basically going in blind in that left lane. People never really know whether to stop (and risk a rear-end collision), slow down, or just blow through the yield sign.

I meant 1604. But, yes anything north of 410 including San Pedro, 281, I-37, I avoid like the plague.

1604?! If I hardly ever go outside of 410, what on earth would I be doing outside of 1604?!

I live out past 1604/281 and well I actually love it. I know people hate the traffic but for as big of a city as we are its far less than what we were expecting!

but yes, in a few years there will be a nice 5 level fully directional interchange thanks to the 281 and 1604 toll projects

he meant the current crap they have. honestly the interchange looks like it was meant for 500 cars per day. but boy did they missed by a longshot.

Believe this: During rush hour, it is faster for me to take 281-S to 410-W (new interchange is NICE!) to I-10W to get home. And I live near the Dominion along I-10!

During certain times of the month I have to go to the airport to fly for a 'day-trip' and back. So I'll usually arrive in SA by 5pm, just in time for the airport traffic mixed in with rush hour. Is it happy hour yet?

I avoid the 281-N to 1604/Sonterra nightmare to keep my sanity! I can get to I10 much faster the other way and could not imagine living in that mess on a daily basis.

If I did, I guess I would have to route my schedule so that I would never be caught in it. You know, grocery shop at 10pm, run errands in the middle of the day, etc...no thanks!
